South Beach Diet

The South Beach Diet was developed by Miami cardiologist Arthur Agatston. The South Beach Diet philosophy is to teach you to change the balance of food you eat from bad carbs and bad fats to eating good fats and good carbs. The South Beach Diet is a three phase diet plan.
Phase One:
During the first phase of the South Beach Diet you'll be taught new eating habits. You'll eat normal size helpings of meat, seafood, plenty of vegetables, eggs, cheese and nuts. This plan helps you curve your hunger craves. You will be able to eat three balanced meals a day, snacks twice a day and even dessert after dinner. It also allows you to drink unlimited diet soft drinks. During this phase you are not allowed to eat any bread, rice, potatoes, pasta or fruit. Also these are products are not allowed in phase one, candy, cake, cookies, ice cream, sugar, beer or any other type of alcohol. This phase lasts  two weeks.
Phase Two:
For phase two you'll begin eating some of foods you gave up during phase one. However this is not a free pass to feast. Instead you will begin to eat the right balance of carbs. During this phase you can eat the following foods, in healthy proportions, pasta, rice, cereal, potatoes and fruits. Wine is also permitted. You remain in phase two until you reach your target weight.
Phase Three:
Phase three begins once you reach your target weight. This is basically the phase where you accomplished your weight loss and you begin to maintain a healthy lifestyle. During this phase you can add more foods back into your daily meals. You'll be able to eat normal foods in normal size portions. At this point your diet should be rich in minerals and vitamins. Be sure eat healthy fats like olive oil and omega-3 oils from fish. Also eat whole grains, smart-carbs, fruits and vegetables.
